Clomid (Clomiphene)

General Description

Clomid or Clomiphene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), it is very similar to another popular SERM, Nolvadex (Tamoxifen). Mostly Clomid is used for ovulation induction for infertile patients.

Clomid has been used since the 1960’s, initially it was used by women with infrequent menstruation. In the middle of the 1970’s the drug became very popular as a strong fertility aid and it still continues being used with that goal today. The research has shown a great result among infertile women.

Clomid is also one of the most used selective estrogen receptor modulators by androgenic anabolic steroid users. The drug is not an androgenic anabolic steroid but can be used to reduce estrogenic side effects that can be caused by using steroids. There are better drugs on the market to reduce estrogenic side effects such as Anastrozole, Proviron, etc. More frequently it’s used as a post cycle therapy (PCT) in order to stimulate the release of Luteinizing hormone (LH) and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). The release of Luteinizing hormone and Follicle Stimulating Hormone gives the command for an organism to start producing testosterone.

Effects of Clomid (Clomiphene)

When an athlete runs a steroid cycle their hypothalamus pituitary testes axis (HPTA) becomes suppressed, as a result an organism produces less testosterone than prior to a cycle and the more advanced a cycle is the lower your natural level of testosterone will be. Sometimes on an advanced cycle an athletes’ testicles shrink as the organism realizes there are too many hormones present and it’s not necessary to produce them. So, when you finish a cycle it’s very important to run a post cycle therapy (PCT) in order to recover the organism’s hypothalamus pituitary testes axis (HPTA).

Athletes who don’t use any post cycle therapy are going to have a low testosterone condition for an extended period of time. Such condition is very unhealthy and comes with all the low testosterone symptoms. The most important for athletes are high body fat level, decreasing muscle mass, and an increased cortisol level.

Clomid stimulates an increased release of luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone by releasing more gonadotropins from the hypophysis. When an organism recognizes its luteinizing hormone has risen it starts producing testosterone, which helps in maintaining a high testosterone level until the natural level recovers.

Side effects of Clomid (Clomiphene)

Clomid is a relatively safe drug and can be used by both men and women. However, some side effects of Clomid do exist and are possible but are most often due to huge irresponsible dosages. Most users should not have any side effects at all.

• ovarian enlargement
• headaches
• nausea
• breast discomfort
• hot flashes
• visual disturbance
• acne

In case some serious side effects appear stop using it immediately and choose another SERM, for PCT the best option will be Nolvadex (Tamoxifen).

Dosages

In bodybuilding, for post cycle therapy, your Clomid dosage will depend on your cycle. If you used an amateur cycle with one steroid in small dosages for 6-8 weeks then 50 milligrams per 14 days should be more than enough. This is confirmed by my own blood test results following my own cycle. If your cycle contains multiple steroids with big dosages, then the dosage of Clomid should be between 100 milligrams and 200 milligrams per day for up to 6 weeks.

It’s also important to start using Clomid timely. If it was an oral cycle with only one steroid, such as Dianabol, Winstrol, or Turinabol, you should start using Clomid two days after finishing your cycle. If your cycle contained fast acting esters you should start PCT 3 days after the cycle. If your cycle contained long lasting esters you should start using Clomid 14 days after your last injection. After long heavy cycles Clomid can be used in combination with Nolvadex (Tamoxifen).

The second option is a research chemical lab (RCL). Some of the RCL’s are selling SERM’s, peptides and other medications that are not controlled yet require a prescription.
